your wardrobe concept
My New Year's walk around Whittle Lake on Vancouver Island affirmed the importance of being refreshed by beauty. We were in a treasure chest of mother nature's jewels: iced droplets on branches resembling Elsa Peretti's diamonds by the yard. Shades of green to copious to count: peridot, tourmaline, jade. We were in a space that enchanted our souls and left us bursting with energy. The need to experience beauty is especially crucial when we are stuck. Often we obsessively push on instead of taking time for a much needed creative pause. A beautiful environment, whether nature or art, ensures you are completely present. There is only you and beauty, in this moment, and not a million other things you need to worry about. Being present becomes a way to handle any problem, any distraction, any stressor. It allows everything else to fade so the problem you are stuck on loses it nasty grip. Being fully present in beauty is a creative experience, illuminating another direction, one of hope and vision. And so it is with the story of your personal brand and style. If you are feeling stuck it is time to get dipped in an enchantingly creative experience.
"In a place of enchanting beauty you become fully present. And your problem loses its nasty grip. Beauty illuminates the creative path forward."
Where would you like your personal brand to grow in 2018? What would you like to let go off? And what vision would you like to anticipate? A compelling exhibition dips you into another's creative experience and reminds you what is humanly possible. Colors, lines and forms that touch you, revealing inner strengths waiting to be expressed through your wardrobe. An enchanting exhibition opens the door to lateral thinking allowing you to connect your style dots. Beauty that touches you provides a positive and creative spirit, that can be translated into your wardrobe and your life. The Mario Fortuny exhibition at the Palais Galliera in Paris is such an enchanting space: a journey into the world of a fascinating alchemist able to turn mere fabric into sumptuous wearable works of art. http://www.palaisgalliera.paris.fr
When I walked into this first room it brought tears to my eyes, there was such a beautiful, delicate and intimate atmosphere I was overwhelmed. A few weeks later I had the same experience at the Lii Edelkoort seminar I attended (but more of that later). Our world needs beauty, needs to be encouraged and uplifted. We need it. I wish each of you much joy, hope and anticipation for 2018. And here is an enchanting place to start: www.fortuny.com
And as the old saying goes "when the student is ready the teacher appears". I left the Palais, jumped on the 72 bus and hopped off at Saint Paul, Le Marais. Right infront of me was a street stand selling silk scarves with Fortuny Persian motives! When I left that enchanting exhibition my cup runneth over....so much so the vibrations pulled me toward more beauty!
