It remains one of my all time favorite style photos. I think she looks smart, wise, full of joy...and like she loves taking time to get dressed up.  When you accessorize boldly as she does, you cannot hide from the world …

An actress friend asked me some years back if I didn't get bored working with corporate clients. And if I wouldn't  love to work with 'creatives'. No was my very clear answer. I am never bored....my magician archetype knows that inside everything seemingly ordinary is something extraordinary waiting to find its way to the light. Because each of us is full of  inspiring images.

It was a blessing in disguise that Milan was booked out for the furniture fair, Salone Mobile, two weeks ago. It meant I stayed an hour outside Milan in Bergamo. I love observing the way Italian women in smaller towns translate fashion items into their own style language. After a delightful first coffee with a view of Citta Alta, the old city on the hill, I strolled down via Borgo Palazzo….

I remember so  vividly a fashion crush moment at the Marangoni fashion school in Milan. It was the early eighties, she was a classmate in the fashion illustration class. The object of my crush was one particular ensemble, a cobalt blue mens cardigan, white shirt, black cigarette jeans, white socks and black ballerinas. I don't remember being fascinated by any other outfit but this one touched me deeply.

Sophistication hits us...and BOOM, we know we are in its presence. The photo of Shala Monroque draws our eye to the complexity of black textures. Fascinating us by how simply the outfit highlights her. Wendy Dagworthy's portrait shows a worldly sophisticated woman. The harmony between hair and jewelry makes her immediately present. And clearly she knows…..

Vanessa Friedman wrote a fabulous NY times article about "Mark  Zuckerberg's sorry suit", commenting on what he wore to his congressional hearing. Vanessa analyses Mark's  dress philosophy, the easy-going combo of t-shirt and jeans ( although not the cheapest as apparently his t's are Bruno Cucinelli at $300 a pop).  She explains that he chose this practical, multi-purpose….
